The F-22 Raptor is a fifth-generation US aircraft of low visibility. Its main mission is airborne supremacy, but it is capable of carrying out other missions such as bombardment and electronic warfare. The F-22 is at the moment the spearhead of the US Air Force.
The Academy kit surprised me. I would consider it quite detailed and easy to build. There were few points where stucco use was necessary. The main problem occurred at the bottom, behind the air intakes.
There was no addition to the cockpit. With a good painting, we have a fair faithful representation of the real aircraft.
The colors I used were Humbrol 127 + 64 for the light base gray at about 70/30. For the dark gray I chose126 with an addition of 144, until it becomes quite blue. Perimeter of the aircraft I dunked with 128.
For the nozzles, I used Model Master Aluminum and in the center Ushi va der Rosten steel powder.
After I finished with the signs and I insured them with gloss varnish. I made a filter with diluted Paynes Gray in white spirit + 10/15 drops of aluminum enamel … I stabbed it vertically with a wide brush … I did not wipe after! This has given the aircraft a sense of weathering.
